We are looking for a professional, qualified and enthusiastic candidate to take up the full-time position of Systems Administrator as part of our IT team. Based at our Macquarie Park (Sydney) campus, you will be a part of an amazing IT team that supports all staff and systems across our campuses in Sydney and Perth.
About the Role:
The Systems Administrator will provide IT-related services to students, teaching staff, and administration staff within Morling and assist in the effective provisioning, operation, installation/configuration, and maintenance of enterprise ICT systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
Your scope of responsibility will include, but is not limited to, the following:
- Troubleshoots and diagnoses desktop/laptop computer systems (primarily MS Windows 10) and peripheral equipment problems.
- Investigates hardware/software problems of desktop/laptop computer systems and peripherals, identifies their source, determines possible solutions, and tests and implements solutions.
- Performs IT support operations, including but not limited to receiving and tracking users’ requests, assigning priority and responsible persons, resolving requests and users’ notification. (shared responsibility)
- Installs, configures, maintains and upgrades desktop/laptop computer systems (primarily MS Windows 10) and peripherals (e.g. printers, copiers, etc). (shared responsibility)
- Assists in performing data backups, data restores, disaster recovery, and storage management. (shared responsibility)
- Assists with collecting information (including systems operation metrics) to analyse and evaluate existing or proposed computer systems.
- Performs desktop computer systems inventories (hardware and software).
- Assists the National IT Manager with local asset management (e.g., hardware, software, licensing, systems decommissioning, etc).
- Onsite (Sydney) and remote (Perth and home-based) support of users.
- Assists with Auditorium AV operations for events/conferences (e.g., digital sound desk, video switch and presentation software).
- Supports on-the-job training of Casual IT and AV staff.

The role is full-time, 5 days per week (1 FTE) during business hours and will be set at Educational Services (Post-Secondary Education) Award classification General staff, level 4.
Essential Key Attributes (please respond to all these attributes in your Cover Letter):
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field.
- Strong working experience with:
- Windows 10 operating systems.
- Network administration.
- Windows Server Environments with Active Directory and Print Server administration.
- Google Suite administration.
- Audio-Visual technology operations.
- Demonstrated Christian character and active involvement in a local evangelical church.
- Alignment of personal values, beliefs and practices with the mission and Christian ethos of Morling College.
- Agreement with Morling College’s Community Code (with any reservations clearly stated and explained at interview).
- Experience with Enterprise Wireless, TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, VLAN’s over multiple hardware vendors.
- Experience with VOIP phones.
- Experience with MS and MySQL database management.
- Experience with security applications/products (e.g., anti-virus, malware, firewalls).
- Experience with Campus Access control management.
- Proven working experience as a Systems Administrator or similar within an educational organisation.
- Ability to initiate and develop strong working relationships with a variety of people (i.e., co-workers – academic and faculty, vendors, students, and other stakeholders).
