Lead Pastor – Epping Baptist Church
Epping Baptist Church has been witnessing to God’s love for people within Epping for almost 90 years. And that community is set to grow … fast! The NSW Government has identified Epping as a priority precinct projected to cater for more than 10,000 new residents in the next 10 years. The cultural mix of Epping has changed and enriched our church … and this growth and change will continue to challenge, excite and bless us as a congregation.
They’re the demographics … but what are the implications? The potential? The day-to-day reality?
Picture: A migrant family comes looking … for ways to improve their English, a support network for a mum with young children, safe places for their primary and secondary children to find friends, a community in which they can create relationships, get “hands on” advice from a widely diverse church family and explore life and faith in Australia. And that’s just one scenario that’s happening now. There are so many more both happening … and possible.
But picture as well: A young family planning to head off to serve in Africa, following in the footsteps of others called to Africa, to the Silk Road, to other overseas countries. Picture a church: which helps support chaplains and scripture teachers in the local schools, a lawyer working pro bono … a church family, of 250-300 regular attendees over two services, which encourages its members, both young and older, to identify, develop and use their gifts.
Following the conclusion of a 12 year ministry of the Senior Pastor, during a period of enormous change in the Epping area, the church is seeking to employ a lead Pastor, with vision and a readiness to build on the diversity and giftedness of the congregation – to explore with them the huge potential that the years ahead offer to bring honour to God in the Epping area as we serve Jesus and our community together.
