Simple Church Taster 2023
April 4 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

The Simple Church team invites you to come on a journey with us. It will begin with exploration of the Simple Church concept, and will build into a space for learning and discovery. It will culminate with an opportunity to discover how to begin the process in your own setting and commit to the process of starting a Simple Church.
Let’s wind back to the earliest space in this journey: the wonderful chance to taste something.
Taste it and contemplate the possibilities.
Each year, the Simple Church Taster event introduces a models of fresh expression of Church to help us explore the missional characteristics and purpose in Simple Churches. Simple Church Taster 2023 will introduce a model of “Couch Church” through Empowered Faith Community. Couch Church is a model that builds and encourages faith-based groups with people in the margins.
On Tuesday, 04 April, you are invited to join the Simple Church Taster event on ZOOM. We will be joined by Mark Matthews, National Manager for Empowered Faith Communities. Mark has worked in the social welfare sector of Melbourne for 30 years. He holds Diplomas in Social Science and Business and is trained in providing professional supervision and counselling and is experienced in community development. Since 2007, Mark has been responsible for the ongoing development of the COACH Community Mentoring program. Mark has developed the frameworks of Empowered Faith Communities (EFC). He team leads an EFC in Rosebud (Victoria) that is offered to people who don’t feel they could easily fit within a mainstream church, empowering them to become agents of influence and change in their own social space. Mark will be speaking to us on the theme of Mission in the Margins.
