Statement - Alofa Masina
Alofa Masina held the role of Senior Pastor of Matagofie Samoan Baptist Church in Claymore NSW. This church closed in 2019 and Mr Masina’s ministerial recognition was removed at that time. Mr Masina does not hold any pastoral recognition with the Baptist Association of NSW & ACT.
While we cannot comment on the detail of the case currently before the court, the Baptist Association of NSW & ACT can confirm that we have worked closely and proactively with ACT Police as this matter has proceeded.
The Baptist Association abhors abuse in any context, whether illegal or unethical. We encourage anyone who has suffered abuse by a Baptist leader or in a Baptist Ministry setting in NSW or ACT to contact Police and/or our Ministry Standards Hotline 1300 647 780.
The Baptist Association works proactively and extensively to help member churches be safe places for all people who might attend and takes complaints very seriously.
