JobKeeper Payment: A guide for NSW and ACT Baptist Churches (including step-by-step process)
Jobkeeper Extension
The Australian government has announced an extension to the JobKeeper Payments to 28 March 2021. The existing JobKeeper Pament will remain in place until 27 September 2020 with no changes to the requirements.
The pament rate of $1,500 per fortnight for eligible employees and business participants will be reduced to $1,200 per fortnight from 28 September 2020 and to $1,000 per fortnight from 4 January 2021. From 28 September 2020, lower payment rates will apply for emploees and business participants that worked fewer than 20 hours per week. Employers will be required to reassess their eligibility with reference to actual turnover instead of projected turnover. The JobKeeper Pament will continue to remain open to new recipients, proided they meet the existing eligibility requirements and the additional turnover requirements during the extension period.

Jobkeeper Overview
The Australian government has passed legislation for a wage subsidy (the JobKeeper Payment) that will be paid to eligible employers, providing $1,500 per fortnight for each eligible employee for up to 26 weeks (13 fortnights) commencing 30 March 2020.
This document outlines eligibility criteria, how to work out fall in turnover and practical steps on how to enrol and make claims. There are also examples as a guide that are relevant for most Baptist Churches in NSW and ACT.
Urgent action is required if your church wishes to claim from commencement date with a 30 April 2020 deadline.
