JOB DESCRIPTION – Cantonese Pastor
This is a full time 5-day permanent ministry position.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in theology from an accredited seminary.
Fluent in Cantonese (English and mandarin proficiency may be beneficial).
Strong communication and leadership skills.
A deep understanding of evangelical theology.
A genuine passion for serving the Cantonese community.
Specific accountability and responsibility
A Cantonese Congregation Pastor plays a vital role in leading and nurturing a Cantonese-speaking church community. Their responsibilities typically include:
Church Vision and Mission
Advancing the vision and the mission of CABC as a pastoral team member.
Whole Church Approach
Supporting the pastoral team (if any) in all facets of the church.
Attending pastoral team meetings, activities and congregational leadership meetings.
Worship Leadership
Conducting and organising Cantonese worship services.
Pastoral Care
Providing spiritual guidance, effective counselling, and support to congregation members.
Teaching & Preaching
Delivering discipleship training, teaching bible studies (Sunday School), and preparing & delivering sermons for the purpose of preaching and teaching the congregations in accordance with the Christian faith and Baptist beliefs,
Ministry Development
Overseeing various church ministries, including evangelism, fellowship, life group and outreach.
Leadership Training
Mentoring and developing lay leaders within the congregation.
Sacraments & Special Services
Officiating baptisms, communions, weddings and funerals.
Community engagement
Leading outreach efforts to connect with local Cantonese-speaking community.
