Maitland Baptist Church (MBC) has played an active part of the local Rutherford community since moving to its current location in Weblands St at the end of 1987.

The church has a strong history of connecting to the community through kids ministry, and particularly through connections with our affiliated Maitland Baptist Church Child Care Ltd, which services 1,000 students across the LGA and The Hub Pre-school and Early-Education Academy, a licensed preschool that accommodates 80 children per week located on the property.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting four day permanent opportunity available for Administration Support. We are seeking someone who aligns with our culture and values.

The successful applicant will Manage the MBC accounts and staff payroll, provide financial reporting and administrative support to the leadership team, the staff and the various ministries of MBC.

They will also manage the Church office functions including services and contracts that provide essential services to MBC and assist with the coordination of responsibilities for the execution of church events.

Demonstrable, advanced secretarial, administrative and bookkeeping skills, advanced communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work unsupervised with sound, independent decisions as necessary is essential.

 

Position Description

Title: Administration Support

Reporting to: Leadership Team of Maitland Baptist Church

Location: Maitland, New South Wales

 

Summary

This position provides administration support to Maitland Baptist Church’s leadership team, staff and various ministries.

Key Working Relationships

  • Leadership Team / Elders of Maitland Baptist Church.
  • Maitland Baptist Church OOSHC and Hub Director and staff
  • External contractors and suppliers
  • Maitland Baptist Church’s Finance and Administration Team.
  • Ministry Leaders

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing administrative support to the leadership team of MBC and the various ministries and staff of MBC.
  • Manage MBC accounts and staff payroll.
  • Manage the Church office functions, including services and contracts that provide essential services to MBC
  • Financial reporting.
  • Preparation of documents, letters, presentations and correspondence for use by Leaders and committees.
  • Assist with the coordination, management and delegation of responsibilities for the execution of church events as agreed.
  • Manage the purchase of office equipment, IT support and office supplies, along with managing the key accounts and contracts for this service.
  • Advance preparation for regular Sunday gatherings, Youth and Kids Church as directed.

Essential Qualifications

  • Strong, active faith in a local church community
  • Demonstrable, advanced secretarial, administrative and book-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and to make sound, independent decisions as necessary.
  • Demonstrable, advanced written and verbal communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products and accounting software eg. Xero
  • Demonstrable ability to work as a team member and actively promote office harmony.
  • Customer and community Service Orientation.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and after-hours commitments

Desirable Qualifications

  • Become an active member or participant in the life of Maitland Baptist Church
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience, in an office administration role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the workings of the church and thechallenges/opportunities in forging effective connections with a service such as OOSHC.
