2020 Leadership Events

Leadership Conversations – (Livestream Available!)

Noun. A strong desire to know or learn something.

Leadership is an unenviable task in our world today.

With so many leaders failing to live up to the demands of their role – personally and professionally – how can we be women and men of faith who exercise leadership in a biblical, sustainable, and effective manner?

We as a Baptist Association see:
  • a movement raising and empowering Kingdom-focused leadership.
  • We see a culture of leadership development across our movement.
  • We see ample mature leadership allowing churches, groups, organisations, and new initiatives to flourish.
  • We see healthy leaders serving our churches and groups with sustained vitality.
  • We see leaders equipped and supported for their roles in the broader community.
Leadership Conversations is about continuing to equip Christian leaders in their roles on topics that are timely for the current season. It’s about having our heads, hearts, and hands continually shaped by the One who has called us to lead. It’s about being challenged, provoked, and encouraged by others as you go about influencing those around you in all that God desires.
Leadership Conversations is a day most suited to those working together in  ministry teams, organisations, or churches, who are wanting to be more effective in this roles at leaders.
As always, our program reflects our theological convictions and as such we have invited a number of experienced, learned, and faithful individuals from a variety of different contexts to speak into our formation as leaders.
Why not join us for Leadership Conversations?

The Gathering – (Livestream and Regional Remote Assemblies available!)

The Gathering combines the Annual Conference and the Annual Assembly of the Baptist Churches of NSW & ACT into two days of equipping, inspiration, encouragement and challenge.

Everyone is invited so why not join us as we explore our theme of ‘Saved, Called, Sent’. There will be powerful keynote messages, interactive and practical workshops along with the launch of the New Ministry and Learning Center (MALC). Take time to connect with fellow leaders, pastors and others in our Baptist Movement as you sit under the teaching of our guest speakers Dan Patterson and Karen Wilson.

Our prayer is that everything you experience at The Gathering will equip you to be sent back into your local communities to bless your families and ministries.

Why We Gather

As an Association of Churches, we understand that we are Greater Together. The Gathering provides an opportunity for networking, inspiration, and encouragement to occur across our Baptist Movement.

The Gathering will provide an opportunity to be inspired, encouraged and challenged as we grow together. Leaning into the workshops and mainstage sessions will provide an opportunity to reflect and be challenged personally and professionally in your faith.

As we join together from all across NSW & ACT we take this time together to acknowledge that we are all Saved, Called and Sent.

Karen is the Director for Strategic Relations for Transform Aid International/ Baptist World Aid Australia. In this role she helps connect Australians with global communities in their journey of transformation through best development practices. She is also the President-Elect for the Baptist World Alliance Women’s Department and commences her term of service July 2020-July 2025. In this role she will give vision and direction for women globally encouraging them in the work they do in their continental regions.

Karen is a gifted communicator and speaks often at conferences and churches across Australia. She is a relational and humorous storyteller who connects with many varied audiences. Her passion is in seeing people challenged and equipped to live life boldly.

Dan Paterson is an itinerant speaker with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries and based in Brisbane, Australia. Growing up with a Christian heritage, a terrible accident in his childhood raised barriers to belief in God. It was roughly a decade later that Dan came to Christ through an investigation of the New Testament, in which Jesus of Nazareth’s response to human suffering eroded Dan’s skepticism.

Given this background and his ministry speaking to young people, Dan developed a driving passion to study theology and apologetics in order to help make sense of the Christian faith for skeptics and spiritual seekers. He completed a bachelor’s and master’s degree in theology in Australia before traveling to Oxford to complete the one-year course at the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics.

This event is for people at all stages of their ministry, and whatever your role. Whether you’ve only just stepped into leadership or if you’re much further along the path, we encourage you to come and be a part of a morning set aside to invest into YOU!

This event continues to grow year by year, and connecting face to face is part of what makes it such a great opportunity. However, if you live out of driving distance, the morning will be live streamed, so gather your team to watch together or grab a cupper and watch online.

At the Pastors and Leaders Day this year we will be encouraged by quality input on developing emotionally healthy leaders in the local church. Our guest speaker will be Richard Black of Strength to Strength.

As usual we will have exciting updates and information on the 2020 Gathering and other opportunities to be built in your leadership gifting. We will connect, pray, worship and share a meal together. We hope you will come and be a part of this event!
