Coaching
“Coaching is an ongoing intentional conversation that empowers a person or group to fully live out God’s calling.” – Keith E. Webb
In light of our Gen1K goal of 1000 healthy churches in a generation, we recognise the need to plant a significant number of churches. This goal requires us to raise up more healthy church planters and leaders to lead those churches.
In our movement, coaching is a relational (not an educational) process, aimed at helping a person or group reach their own God-given goals. Our coaches are colleagues who are trained to listen and ask questions that help their coachees draw out their thoughts, reflect on ideas, make decisions and take action without being told what to do by their coach.
Coaching helps leaders enhance their:
- resilience, spiritual well-being and emotional well-being
- commitment and capacity to make disciples, develop more leaders, and plant churches
- connections with others, and broader involvement in community, networks and the Baptist Association
Through ongoing, other-centred, intentional coaching conversations, emerging leaders feel more empowered and equipped to think through situations and options and develop themselves and their communities in God-honouring ways.
