Visioning Resource Pack
In this package you will find a whole range of resources to help your church engage in a Visioning Process.
Note that there is further assistance available to you. Especially if you haven’t previously engaged in a visioning process, we encourage you to contact the Church Health Team who can:
- Advise or coach a senior leader who is taking a church through this process, or
- Provide external facilitation of the process
It is sometimes better to engage external facilitators even if your church has the expertise to run the visioning process internally, as this can allow senior leaders to speak their own views more freely into the process. If those facilitating the process are freely sharing their own views, participants may not experience it as a truly consultative process.
The resources are organised into the following sections:

Note that many of these resources are included in both pdf and Word / Powerpoint formats. The pdf format is used because it is stable. Word / Powerpoint formats are included so that you can edit and modify for your purposes.

Here you will find
- an introductory document on theology and definitions
- introductory slides, including some slides on ‘process’
- an example of a mind-map brainstorming good and bad experiences of visioning. You may choose to use the ‘x-mind’ app if you do this activity with your leadership team.

Here you will find:
- a document to help guide a church leadership and then an appointed ‘visioning team’ in developing a visioning process for your church
- an example visioning process
- a further 3 sub-sections with forum resources for each of Purpose, Values and Vision
The forum resources are designed to help a team prepare for their own forums, however they are only a starting point. You will need to modify them to suit your needs. The idea is that it is often easier to modify something than to start from scratch.
For each forum you will find the following resources:
- a forum runsheet
- forum slides
- a forum workbook
- a document for recording notes on a screen as the forum progresses

Some of these tools are those that have been compiled into forum workbooks, but here they are available separately so you can more easily use them as you wish.
